Single potpourri: Weekend random musings

My potpourri of stuff.

On black folks and therapy: No matter how natural you allow your hair to grow, how much money you earn, how fast you think you've found love, if you have past issues tucked away like sleeping termites in a wall, you have nothing. But a mess, just like the termites leave.


On visiting parents: No matter how old I get, I am forever 13 years old -- with a "mandatory" sit-down breakfast and the urge to sneak away to make calls to my male friends -- at home. I need a drink but I dare not open a bottle here!


On religious holiday weekends: I am often torn between the holier-than-thous who remind us everyday about the birth, death and resurrection of Christ, and the heathens who use the days off as a reason to do everything under the sun that is straight up devilish.

On being natural: You still have to do your hair. :/ Natural does not mean lazy.

On having a gut: I still look thinner than many my age. All I need to do is suck it up, suck it in and go! *takes deep breath and holds it for as long as possible*

On today's entrepreneur: Everyone is an author, life coach and speaker. Apparently, the only prerequisites needed are a) internet access, b) lots of time on hands and c) a following of others doing the exact same thing, (so they all can feed off each other).
