I think UrbanDictionary sums up the term soulmate, as most of you use the word:
"A person with whom you have an immediate connection the moment you meet -- a connection so strong that you are drawn to them in a way you have never experienced before. As this connection develops over time, you experience a love so deep, strong and complex, that you begin to doubt that you have ever truly loved anyone prior."
(Excuse me while I throw up in my mouth)
If UD's definition holds true, most of us have found soulmates quite a few times! What happened? I'll tell you whathadhappened: the term doesn't live up to the hype. That's all it is to me, a bunch of hype sold to the masses via dating and wedding sites.
What happens when the soulmate has a bad day at work and cusses you out, drinks too much, or neglects his children? Are you supposed to stay with this mofo, because that's your soulmate right there? I feel for those who are searching for the hype. Good gravy.
So there it is. I don't buy into the soulmate shyt because to me, it's misleading. Hello! That last dude I was with, was a freaking "soulmate" as defined by many of you, and the definitions I've pasted here.
